Last summer, we were kindly invited to run the fun dog show at Whitwell’s Parish Village Day. Usually weather reports of these events can be rather trite and allegedly typically British…
But the weather on that day really did surpass all expectations with torrential rain doing more than threatening. We narrowly missed a severe wash-out and were actually blessed by the inclement weather leaving a dry spell just for the duration of the dog show itself. Unbelievable!
We wanted the weather to be on its best behaviour not only for the dog show but also for the arrival of our celebrity judge, Malcolm Hebden. Malcolm judged the show expertly and provided a witty running commentary of the proceedings.
He then went on to judge the Great Whitwell Bake-Off, thankfully sparing large dental bills when it came to the biscuit section. Our après dog show tombolas (teddy and gifts) went down a storm (a bit like the weather!) and raised a few extra pennies for the Greyhound Compassion coffers.
Thanks to Whitwell Parish Council for the invitation to their Fun Day.
